Silas Haplea is a poly-stylistic composer who strives to compose works that are challenging, yet accessible to listeners. He focuses on eliciting emotional responses using motives, colorful harmonic language, and metric modulation. Throughout his years listening to and engaging with many different styles of music, he creates a unique voice that engages listeners from all backgrounds. Silas is presently in his second year for his M.M. in Music Composition at Bowling Green State University and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Kent State University with his B.M. in Music Composition.
Silas has been awarded a teaching assistantship at BGSU and is a winner of the 2024 Annual Toledo Symphony Orchestra Reading competition.
